The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met in a televised session at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Yasmin Ratansi, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Diane Bourgeois, Patrick Brown, Siobhan Coady, Jacques Gourde, Martha Hall Findlay, Ed Holder, Richard Nadeau, Yasmin Ratansi and Chris Warkentin.

 

Acting Members present: Peter Julian for Pat Martin and David Sweet for Rod Bruinooge.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Philippe LeGoff, Analyst; Édison Roy-César, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Privy Council Office: Patricia J. Hassard, Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet, Senior Personnel and Public Service Renewal. Treasury Board Secretariat: Hélène Laurendeau, Assistant Deputy Minister, Compensation and Labour Relations; Daphne Meredith, Chief Human Resources Officer.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(c) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, March 15, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of the freeze on departmental budget envelopes and government operations.
 

Patricia J. Hassard and Daphne Meredith made statements and answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 5:15 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

 

At 5:17 p.m., the Committee proceeded to sit in camera.

 

It was agreed, — That, for its meeting of Monday, April 12, 2010, regarding its study on the freeze on departmental budget envelopes and government operations, the Committee invite the appropriate officials from the Treasury Board, the Parliamentary Budget Officer, and Daniel Jean, Deputy Minister, Administrative Services Review, Privy Council Office, to appear.

 

It was agreed, — That, for its meeting of Wednesday, April 14, 2010, regarding its study on the freeze on departmental budget envelopes and government operations, the Committee invite representatives from the Association of Canadian Financial Officers to appear, in addition to the witnesses already scheduled.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee hold two hearings, one on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, and one on Monday, April 26, 2010, on federal buildings maintenance contracts.

 

At 5:33 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
