The Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee met in camera at 1:00 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Vice-Chair, Yasmin Ratansi, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Art Hanger, Hon. Diane Marleau, Rob Merrifield, Yasmin Ratansi, Paul Szabo and Mervin C. Tweed.

 

Other Members present: Barry Devolin, Norman Doyle, Ed Komarnicki, Pauline Picard, James Rajotte and Gary Schellenberger.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Karen Thriepland, Coordinator, Logistics Services. Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration: Andrew Bartholomew Chaplin, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development: Bonnie Charron, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology: Michelle Tittley, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage: Catherine Cuerrier, Clerk of the Committee. Library of Parliament: Jack Stilborn, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 107(1), the Subcommittee resumed its study on Budget submissions.
 

The Clerk gave a presentation on the financial status of the global envelope for committee activities.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee Industry, Science and Technology be granted a travel budget of $139,305 to travel to Winnipeg, Manitoba; Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and Vancouver, British Columbia, for public hearings, site visits and meetings in relation to its study of science and technology in Canada, from May 25 to 30, 2008.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration be granted an operational budget of $76,350 for its study on Part 6 of Bill C-50.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development be granted a travel budget of $82,588 to travel to Iqaluit and Pangnirtung, Nunavut, to attend informal meetings, round tables and site visits in relation to its study of the economic development challenges in Canada’s northern territories, in June 2008.

 

At 1:50 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
