The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met at 9:03 a.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, Shawn Murphy, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: David Christopherson, Brian Fitzpatrick, Mark Holland, Hon. Charles Hubbard, Jean-Yves Laforest, Mike Lake, Hon. Shawn Murphy, Pierre Poilievre, David Sweet and Borys Wrzesnewskyj.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Carolyn Bennett for Hon. Charles Hubbard and Gerald Keddy for John Williams.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lydia Scratch, Analyst; Marcia Jones, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g), the Committee resumed consideration of Chapter 9, Pension and Insurance Administration - Royal Canadian Mounted Police of the November 2006 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

At 10:52 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Borys Wrzesnewskyj moved, — That Superintendent Denis Constant, the former executive officer in former RCMP Commissioner Zaccardelli’s office, and also retired Chief Superintendent Wayne Watson appear as witnesses before the Committee.

Debate arose thereon.

 

By unanimous consent, the motion was withdrawn.

 

On motion of Pierre Poilievre, it was agreed, — That the Chairman develop questions, present them, in the form of a letter, to Superintendent Denis Constant, the former executive officer in former RCMP Commissioner Zaccardelli’s office, and to retired Chief Superintendent Wayne Watson, and instruct them to provide the Committee with a response to the questions within one week of receipt of the letter.

 

At 11:00 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:00 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

At 11:01 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
