PACP Committee Meeting

The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met in camera at 11:35 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Shawn Murphy, presiding.

The Chair presented the Eighth Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure which read as follows:

Your Subcommittee met on Monday, June 9, 2008, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:

1. That on June 10, 2008, the Committee consider the draft report of Chapter 4, "Canadian Agricultural Income Stabilization - Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada" of the May 2007 Report of the Auditor General of Canada from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.; and consider the draft report of Chapter 7, "Acquisition of Leased Office Space" of the May 2006 Report of the Auditor General of Canada (Place Victoria) from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

2. That on June 12, 2008, should the Committee not have completed consideration of Chapter 7, "Acquisition of Leased Office Space" of the May 2006 Report of the Auditor General of Canada (Place Victoria), it be considered at 11 a.m.; followed by consideration of the Office of the Auditor General's 2006-07 Departmental Performance Report and the 2008-09 Report on Plans and Priorities; and then Chapter 3, "Human Resources Management - Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada" of the May 2007 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.

3. That on September 16, 2008, the Committee commence consideration of Chapter 4, "First Nations Child and Family Services Program - Indian and Northern Affairs Canada" of the May 2008 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.

4. That on September 18, 2008, the Committee consider draft reports.

5. That on September 23, 2008, the Committee commence consideration of Chapter 5, "Surveillance of Infectious Diseases - Public Health Agency of Canada" of the May 2008 Reprot of the Auditor General of Canada.

6. That on September 25, 2008, the Committee consider draft reports.

7. That on September 30, 2008, the Committee commence consideration of Chapter 7, "Detention and Removal of Individuals - Canada Border Services Agency" of the May 2008 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.

8. That on October 2, 2008, the Committee consider draft reports.

9. That on October 7, 2008, the Committee commence consideration of Auditor General's Special Examinations.

10. That on October 9, 2008, the Committee consider draft reports.

11. That on October 21, 2008, the Committee commence consideration of a study on Performance Pay in the Federal Public Service.

12. That on October 23, 2008, the Committee consider draft reports.

13. That on June 19, 2008, the Committee call the Accounting Officers for CIDA to account for their lack of response to the Chair's March 13, 2008, letter regarding Government Responses.

It was agreed, — That the Eighth Report of the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: Chapter 4, "Canadian Agricultural Income Stabilization - Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada" of the May 2007 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analyst be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

It was agreed, — That the Clerk of the Committee prepare and issue a press release following the presentation of the report in the House.

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

At 1:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
