The Standing Committee on Health met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Rob Merrifield, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dave Batters, Bonnie Brown, Patricia Davidson, Rick Dykstra, Steven John Fletcher, Christiane Gagnon, Susan Kadis, Luc Malo, Rob Merrifield and Penny Priddy.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Raymond Chan for Hon. Carolyn Bennett and Lui Temelkovski for Hon. Hedy Fry.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Joann Garbig, Legislative Clerk. Library of Parliament: Nancy Miller Chenier, Analyst; Marlisa Tiedemann, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Hazardous Materials Information Review Commission Canada: Weldon Newton, President and Chief Executive Officer; Sharon Watts, Vice-President, Corporate Services Branch and Adjudication; Marc-André Dionne, Legal Counsel (Justice Canada).

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, November 1, 2006, the Committee commenced consideration of Bill S-2, An Act to amend the Hazardous Materials Information Review Act.
 

Weldon Newton and Sharon Watts made a statement and answered questions.

 

The Committee commenced its clause-by-clause study of the Bill.

 

The Chair called Clause 1.

 

Clauses 1 to 9 inclusive carried severally.

 

The Title carried.

 

The Bill carried.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair report the Bill to the House.

 

At 4:22 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
