The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met in camera at 11:06 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Norman Doyle, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Omar Alghabra, Dave Batters, Norman Doyle, Meili Faille, Nina Grewal, Hon. Jim Karygiannis, Ed Komarnicki, Bill Siksay, Hon. Andrew Telegdi and Blair Wilson.

 

Acting Members present: Ken Epp for Barry Devolin and Roger Gaudet for Raymond Gravel.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Andrew Kitching, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The Chair presented the 7th Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure which read as follows:

The Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure of the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration agreed that the Standing Committee will:

1- Invite Senator Romeo Dallaire, Melynda Jarrat, Marion and Annette Galbraith, Lisa and Doug Cochrane, Suzanne Rouleau, Denise Tessier, and Lisa and Andrew Cochrane to appear before the Committee on Thursday May 31st, 2007, regarding its study on the Loss of Canadian Citizenship; and that the meeting be televised, if possible.

2- Invite CIC Officials regarding its study on the Loss of Canadian Citizenship to appear on Tuesday, June 5th, 2007, and that the meeting be extended by 1 hour, from 1pm to 2pm, if necessary.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be amended by replacing “Thursday, May 31, 2007” with “Tuesday, May 29, 2007”.

 

It was agreed, — That the report, as amended, be adopted.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, June 21, 2006, the Committee resumed its study of Refugee Issues.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

At 1:06 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
