MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 14

Tuesday, September 26, 2006

The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 9:06 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, William Farrell, Clerk of the Committee, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Johanne Deschamps, Barry Devolin, Norman Doyle, Meili Faille, Raymonde Folco, Nina Grewal, Rahim Jaffer, Hon. Jim Karygiannis, Ed Komarnicki, Bill Siksay, Hon. Andrew Telegdi and Blair Wilson.

In attendance: House of Commons: Jacques Lahaie, Committee Clerk . Library of Parliament: Jennifer Bird, Analyst ; Andrew Kitching, Analyst.

The Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of a Chair.

On motion of Barry Devolin, it was agreed, — That Norman Doyle be elected Chair of the Committee.

The Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of the Vice-Chairs.

Hon. Andrew Telegdi moved, — That Hon. Andrew Telegdi be elected First Vice-Chair of the Committee.

Johanne Deschamps moved, — That Raymonde Folco be elected First Vice-Chair of the Committee.

Pursuant to Standing Order 106(3), the election was conducted by secret ballot.

The ballots having been counted, Hon. Andrew Telegdi was declared duly elected First Vice-Chair of the Committee.

On motion of Johanne Deschamps, it was agreed, — That Meili Faille be elected Second Vice-Chair of the Committee in abstentia.

Norman Doyle took the Chair.

At 9:16 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
