The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met in camera at 10:06 a.m. this day, in Room 308 West Block, the Chair, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Sue Barnes, André Bellavance, Bernard Cleary, Jeremy Harrison, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Gary Lunn, Pat Martin, David Smith and Roger Valley.

 

Acting Members present: Larry Bagnell for Lloyd St. Amand.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mary Hurley, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That Ms. Sylvia Haines, from the Office of the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development and Federal Interlocutor for Métis and Non-Status Indians, be admitted to in camera meetings of the Committee.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee study the motion of Bernard Cleary, regarding the elections process in Kanesatake, prepare a list of potential witnesses and a budget for Bill C-14 during its meeting of November 2, 2004.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee study the question of compensations received by First Nations veterans during its meeting of November 4, 2004.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee begin consideration of Bill C-14 during its meeting of November 16, 2004, if it is referred to Committee.

 

It was agreed, — That the motion agreed on October 19, 2004, regarding composition of the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, be amended, by replacing the words “four (4) members, the Chair, the two Vice-Chairs, and one (1) member of the New Democratic Party” by “five (5) members, the Chair, one (1) Government member other than the Parliamentary Secretary, the two Vice-Chairs, and one (1) member of the New Democratic Party”.

 

At 11:01 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
