Tuesday, April 8, 2003

The Subcommittee on National Security of the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met at 4:18 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Derek Lee, presiding.

Members of the Subcommittee present: Derek Lee, Geoff Regan and Kevin Sorenson.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Philip Rosen, Principal.

Witnesses: From the Ontario Association of Police Services Board: Norman Gardner, Chairman, Toronto Police Services Board; Bob Boychyn, Chair, Durham Regional Police Services Board; Allan Magnacca, Vice-Chair, Niagara Regional Police Services Board; Herb Kreling, Chair, Ottawa Police Services Board; Bernie Morelli, Chair, Hamilton Police Services Board.

Pursuant to a motion of the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights adopted on Wednesday, November 6, 2002, the Subcommittee commenced consideration of the Anti-Terrosim Act and Security measures at provincial and local levels.

Norman Gardner and Herb Kreling made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 5:52 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
