Meeting No. 3

Wednesday, November 27, 2002

The Standing Committee on Official Languages met at 4:19 p.m., this day, in Room 307, West Block, the Chair, Mauril Bélanger, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Mauril Bélanger, Eugène Bellemare, Gérard Binet, Jeannot Castonguay, Yvon Godin, Rahim Jaffer, Benoît Sauvageau, Raymond Simard and Yolande Thibeault.

In attendance:  From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament :  Marion Ménard, Analyst.

Witnesses: From the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission: Andrée Wylie, Vice-Chairperson, Broadcasting; Réjean Myre, Director, French-Language Radio and Television, Broadcasting Policy; Claude Doucet, Director, Distribution and Competitive Policy, Broadcasting Policy Group.

Andrée Wylie made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3), the Committee considered the licence renewal for CPAC and the matter regarding the broadcasting of the House of Commons' debates in both official languages.

At 5:40 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
