The Standing Committee on Official Languages met at 9:08 a.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Mauril Bélanger, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Mauril Bélanger, Eugène Bellemare, Jeannot Castonguay, Yvon Godin, Benoît Sauvageau, Raymond Simard and Yolande Thibeault.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament:  Marion Ménard, Analyst.

Witnesses: From the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Gisèle Samson-Verreault, Assistant Deputy Minister, Human Resources; Claude Boucher, Senior Coordinator for Federal-Provincial Relations; Marielle Doyon, Director, Human Resources Policy and Strategic Planning.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(d), pursuing the study on Part VII of the Official Languages Act ("Immigration and Official Language Minority Communities").

Gisèle Samson-Verreault and Claude Boucher made a statement and, with the other witness, answered questions.

At 10:47 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
