MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 15

Wednesday, March 19, 2003

The Standing Committee on Official Languages met in camera at 3:45 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Mauril Bélanger, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Carole-Marie Allard, Mauril Bélanger, Eugène Bellemare, John Bryden, Christiane Gagnon, Yvon Godin, John Herron, Scott Reid, Yolande Thibeault.

Acting Members present: Gérard Binet for Jeannot Castonguay, Richard Marceau for Benoît Sauvageau.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Marion Ménard, analyst.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(d), the Committee resumed consideration of a draft report on the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

It was agreed, ─ That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

It was agreed, ─ That the Committee append to its report dissenting opinions provided that they are no more than one page in length and submitted electronically to the Clerk of the Committee no later than Friday, March 21, 2003 at 12 noon.

It was agreed, ─ That the Chair, Clerk and Analyst be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

It was agreed, ─ That the Chair present the report to the House.

It was agreed, ─ That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

The Committee proceeded to consider its future business.

It was agreed, ─ That the Committee approve the calendar of future business presented by the Chair.

At 4:43 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
