The Standing Committee on Official Languages met at 3:39 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Mauril Bélanger, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Mark Assad, Mauril Bélanger, Eugène Bellemare, John Bryden and Yolande Thibeault.
Acting Member present: Madeleine Dalphond-Guiral for Benoît Sauvageau.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Marion Ménard, Analyst.
Witnesses: From Statistics Canada: Douglas Norris, Director General, Census and Demographic Statistics; Louise Marmen, Chief, Demographic & Language Characteristics (Census); Jane Badets, Chief, Immigration & Ethnoculture.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(d), the Committee resumed its study on Part VII of the Official Languages Act ("Immigration and Official Language Minority Communities").
Douglas Norris, Louise Marmen and Jane Badets made a statement and answered questions.
At 4:56 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
