Meeting No. 5

Wednesday, May 16, 2001

The Sub-Committee on Human Rights and International Development of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 3:44 p.m. this day, in Room 306, West Block, the Acting Chair, Coleen Beaumier, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Colleen Beaumier, Eugène Bellemare, Antoine Dubé

Acting Member present: Michel Guimond for Antoine Dubé.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: James Lee, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From the Carleton University: Cristina Rojas, Assistant Professor, Norman Patterson School of International Affairs. From the Royal Military College of Canada: Hal P. Klepak, Professor, History and Strategy. From the Peace Brigades International: Luis van Isschot, North American Representative, Colombia Project.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Sub-Committee resumed its study of human rights, development and other matters in Colombia.

The witnesses each made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 5:15 p.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
