Wednesday, October 31, 2001
The Sub-Committee on Human Rights and International Development of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 7:41 a.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Beth Phinney, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Antoine Dubé, Marlene Jennings, Beth Phinney, Svend Robinson.
Other Members present: Jean Augustine, Francine Lalonde.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: James Lee, Gerald Schmitz, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the United Nations: Jan Egeland, Special Advisor to the Secretary General of the United Nations on Colombia; James Lemoyne, Deputy Special Adviser to the Secretary General on International Assistance to Colombia; Angela Kane, Director, Division of Americas and Europe of Department of Political Affairs.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Sub-Committee continued its study of human rights, development and other matters in Colombia.
Jan Egeland made an opening statement and, with James Lemoyne and Angela Kane, answered questions.
At 8:54 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
