Thursday, June 7, 2001
The Budget Sub-Committee of the Liaison Committee met in camera at 12:55 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Bill Graham, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Bonnie Brown, Wayne Easter, Bill Graham, Clifford Lincoln, David Pratt, Susan Whelan, John Williams.
Other Members present: Michel Guimond, Mauril Bélanger.
In attendance: From Committees and Parliamentary Association Directorate: Christine Fisher, Clerk of the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage; Jean-François Pagé, Joint Clerk of the Standing Joint Committee on Official Languages; From Financial Services: Linda Biard, Senior Financial Advisor.
It was agreed, - That the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage be granted a budget of $322,832 to travel to Whitehorse, Yellowknife, Iqualuit, St. John's, Nfld, Charlottetown, P.E.I., Halifax, Fredericton and day site visits, in October 2001, for public hearings to hear witnesses on the Canadian Broadcasting System.
It was agreed, - That the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage be granted an operational budget in the amount of $237,600 for its Study of Bill C-10 and Study on the Canadian Broadcasting System under 108(2).
At 1:01 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 1:12 p.m., the sitting resumed.
It was agreed, - That, subject to the Standing Joint Committee approval, the Standing Joint Committee on Official Languages be granted an operational budget in the amount of $14,000 ($20,000 X 70%) to cover the costs of hiring additional research assistance.
At 1:20 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
