The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met in a televised session at 10:08 a.m. this day, in Room 160-S, Centre Block, the Chair, John Williams, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: John Bryden, Mac Harb, Pat Martin, Philip Mayfield, Joe Peschisolido, Greg Thompson, John Williams.
Acting Members present: Val Meredith for Rahim Jaffer; Paul Macklin for Shawn Murphy; John O’Reilly for Robert Bertrand; Joe Jordan for Alex Shepherd; David Pratt for Beth Phinney; Alan Tonks for John Finlay; Marcel Proulx for Sophie Leung; Ghislain Lebel for Odina Desrochers.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Brian O'Neal, Research Officer.
Pursuant to Standing Order 106(3), the Committee proceeded to the consideration of a letter dated Wednesday, July 17, 2002, signed by Four Members requesting to convene a meeting.
Philip Mayfield moved, - That the Committee hold meetings to investigate the issuing of government contracts to Groupe Everest Inc., Lafleur Communications, Media TDA Vision Inc., Les Éditions Polygone Inc., Communications Coffin Ltd., as well as any government contracts funnelled through a third party, and that witnesses be called.
And debate arise thereon.
