Meeting No. 32

Tuesday, November 20, 2001

The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met at 3:43 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Vice-Chair Beth Phinney presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Robert Bertrand, Shawn Murphy, Gilles-A. Perron, Beth Phinney and John Williams.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Brian O'Neal and Jean Dupuis, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Office of the Auditor General of Canada: Michael McLaughlin, Deputy Auditor General; Shahid Minto, Assistant Auditor General; Régent Chouinard, Director. From the Department of Transport: Louis Ranger, Assistant Deputy Minister; David Bell, Director General, Airport Programs and Divestiture; Valérie Dufour, Director General, Air Policy.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), the Committee proceeded to consider Chapter 10 (Transport Canada - Airport Transfers: National Airports System) of the October 2000 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.

At 3:47 p.m., John Williams took the Chair.

Michael McLaughlin from the Office of the Auditor General of Canada made a statement.

Louis Ranger from the Department of Transport made a statement.

Michael McLaughlin, Shahid Minto, Louis Ranger, David Bell and Valérie Dufour answered questions.

At 5:28 p.m., the Committee adjourned until 3:30 p.m. Thursday, November 22, 2001.
