Meeting No. 7

Tuesday, March 27, 2001

 

The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Bill Graham, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Jean Augustine, Bill Graham, John Harvard, Francine Lalonde, Gary Lunn, Diane Marleau, Pat O'Brien, Pierre Paquette, Denis Paradis, Bernard Patry, Svend Robinson.

Associate Members present: Irwin Cotler, Claude Duplain.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: John M. Wright; Blayne Haggart.

Witnesses: From the Common Frontiers: John Dillon, Research Coordinator, Ecumenical Coalition for Economic Justice; John Foster, Principal Researcher, Civil Society at the North-South Institute. From the Sierra Club of Canada: Elizabeth May, Executive Director. From the Canadian Agri-Food Trade Alliance: Liam McCreery, President. From the Canadian Federation of Students: Jen Anthony, National Deputy Chairperson. From the Canadian Chamber of Commerce (The): Robert Keyes, Senior Vice-President, International. From the Malting Industry Association of Canada: Phil de Kemp, President.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), Summit of the Americas and the FTAA.

The witnesses each made a statement and answered questions.

It was agreed - That the Committee would add a meeting on Tuesday, April 3rd in the afternoon to hear from Departmental Officials.

At 4:10 p.m., John Harvard took the Chair.

At 5:31 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
