Meeting No. 6

Thursday, November 18, 1999

The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met at 9:01 a.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, Pat O'Brien, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Robert Bertrand, Hec Clouthier, Gordon Earle, Peter Goldring, Judi Longfield, Paul Mercier, Pat O'Brien, Janko Peric, David Pratt, George Proud, Elsie Wayne and Bob Wood.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Wolf Koerner and Corinne McDonald, Research Officers.

Appearing: The Honourable George S. Baker, Minister of Veterans Affairs.

Witness: From the Department of Veterans Affairs Canada: Larry Murray, Deputy Minister.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of its study on Veterans Issues (Merchant Marine)

The Minister made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 10:15 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:38 a.m., the sitting resumed.

The witness answered questions.

At 10:44 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
