The Standing Committee on Industry met at 4:29 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Jim Jones, Walt Lastewka, Ian Murray, Charlie Penson and Susan Whelan.

Other Member present: Roy Cullen.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Daniel Shaw, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From the Mining Association of Canada: Gordon Peeling, President and Chief Executive Officer. From the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers: William A. Friley, Jr, President and Chief Executive Officer, Triumph Energy Corporation; David MacInnis, Vice-President of Strategic Planning.

Pursuant to the Committee's mandate under Standing Order 108(2), a study concerning Productivity, Innovation and Competitiveness.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 5:56 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
