Meeting No. 11

Tuesday, November 30, 1999

The Standing Committee on Industry met at 3:39 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: John Cannis, Marlene Jennings, Jim Jones, Walt Lastewka, Gurbax Malhi, Ian Murray, Charlie Penson, Jerry Pickard, Nelson Riis, Susan Whelan.

Acting Members present: Serge Cardin for Pierre Brien and Dan McTeague for Brenda Chamberlain.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Branch of the Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers: Bill Simpkins, Vice-President, Government Relations and Communications; Andrew Stephens, Member of the Association.

Pursuant to the Committee's mandate under Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of its study concerning Productivity, Innovation and Competitiveness (see Minutes of Proceedings and Evidence of Tuesday, November 2, 1999, Meeting No. 2).

Andrew Stephens made an opening statement and with the other witness, answered questions.

At 5:02 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
