Thursday, November 25, 1999

The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 12:17 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.

Member(s) of the Committee present: Maurizio Bevilacqua, Scott Brison, Roy Cullen, Nick Discepola, Albina Guarnieri, Yvan Loubier, Gary Pillitteri and Paul Szabo.

Acting Members present: Gary Lunn for Richard Harris.

Associate Members present: Carolyn Bennett and Werner Schmidt.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Odette Madore and Jean Soucy, Researchers; Marion Wrobel, Senior Analyst.

Witnesses: From the Air Transport Association of Canada: J. Clifford Mackay, President and Chief Executive Officer. From the Canadian Automotive Repair and Service Council: Keith Lancastle, Spokesperson. From the Canadian Trucking Alliance: David Bradley, Chief Executive Officer; Graham Cooper, Senior Vice-President. From the Canadian Automobile Association: Elly Meister, Vice President, Public Affairs and Communications; Leanne Wright, Research, Public Affairs and Communications. In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 83.1, the Committee resumed its Pre-Budget Consultations. (See Minutes of Proceedings, Tuesday, November 2, 1999, Meeting No. 2).

Clifford Mackay, Keith Lancastle, David Bradley, Elly Meister, François Legault, Amelia Shaw and Donna-Lynn Ahee made statements and, with the other participants in the roundtable, answered questions.

At 1:52 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
