Meeting No. 7

Wednesday, December 1, 1999

The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Vice-Chair, Steve Mahoney, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Rob Anders, Bernard Bigras, John Bryden, Sophia Leung, Rick Limoges, Steve Mahoney, Pat Martin and Andrew Telegdi.

Acting Member present: Gurmant Grewal for Leon Benoit.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Margaret Young, Research Officer.

Witnesses: As Individuals: Martin Collacott, Former Canadian Ambassador, Vancouver, B.C.; and William Bauer, Former Canadian Ambassador, Hensall, Ont.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on all aspects of the Refugee Determination System and Illegal Migrants. (See minutes of proceedings of Wednesday, November 3, 1999, meeting No.2)

William Bauer made a statement.

Martin Collacott made a statement.

The witnesses answered questions.

At 5:37 p.m., the Committee adjourned until 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 2, 1999.
