Thursday, May 27, 1999

The Standing Committee on Transport met at 9:18 a.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, Ray Bonin, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Ray Bonin, Murray Calder, John Cannis, Stan Dromisky, Claude Drouin, Michel Guimond, Ovid Jackson, Stan Keyes, Lee Morrison, Lou Sekora.

In attendance: From the Committee and Legislative Services Directorate: Marc Toupin, Legislative Clerk. From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: John Christopher, Researcher.

Witnesses: From the Transport Canada: Valérie Dufour, Director, Domestic Air Policy; Elizabeth MacNab, Counsel, Legal Services.

Pursuant to an Order of Reference of the House dated Friday, May 14, 1999, the Committee commenced consideration of Bill S-23, An Act to amend the Carriage by Air Act.

Valérie Dufour made an opening statement.

The Committee proceeded to the Clause-by-Clause consideration of Bill S-23, An Act to amend the Carriage by Air Act.

By unanimous consent, Clause 2 carried.

Clause 3 carried.

Clause 4 carried.

Clause 5 carried.

Schedule IV carried.

Schedule V carried.

By unanimous consent, Clause 1 carried.

The Title carried.

The Bill, without amendment, carried.
