The Standing Committee on Natural Resources and Government Operations met at 9:33 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Brent St. Denis, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Réginald Bélair, Gilles Bernier, Gerry Byrne, Roy Cullen, Marlene Jennings, Ghislain Lebel, Carolyn Parrish, Carmen Provenzano, Werner Schmidt, Ben Serré, Brent St. Denis.
Acting Members present: Michelle Dockrill for Yvon Godin; Larry McCormick for Tony Ianno; Rob Anders for David Chatters.
Other Member present: Tony Ianno.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jack Stilborn, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From the Appraisal Institute of Canada: Bob Wade, President-elect; Terry Gifford, Executive Vice-President. From the GE Capital Mortgage Insurance: Peter Vukanovich, President; Bob Weese, Vice-President, Government and External Relations; Phil Mayers, Vice-President, Business Development and Securitization. From the Bank of Montreal: Ann M. Rheault, Director, Aboriginal Banking Group. From the Canadian Home Builders' Association: John Kenward, Chief Operating Officer; Donald Johnston, Senior Director, Technology and Policy. From the Cooperative Housing Federation of Canada: Laird Hunter, Counsel; Danielle Cécile, Director, Social Development.
The Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-66, An Act to amend the National Housing Act and the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation Act.
Bob Wade and Peter Vukanovich made statements and with the other witnesses from the Appraisal Institute of Canada and GE Capital Mortgage Insurance answered questions.
At 11:08 a.m. the sitting was suspended.
At 11:15 a.m. the sitting resumed.

At 12:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
