The Standing Committee on Natural Resources and Government Operations met at 11:06 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Brent St. Denis, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Réginald Bélair, David Chatters, Roy Cullen, Yvon Godin, Ghislain Lebel, Carolyn Parrish, Ben Serré, Brent St. Denis.
Acting Members present: Gerald Keddy for Gilles Bernier.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Jack Stilborn, Researcher officer.
Witnesses: From the Privy Council Office: Mel Cappe, Clerk of the Privy Council and Secretary to the Cabinet; Elisabeth Nadeau, Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Services.
The Order of Reference dated Monday, March 1, 1999, relating to the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2000 being read as follows:
Ordered, - That Votes 1, 5, 10, 45 and 55 under PRIVY COUNCIL be referred to the Standing Committee on Natural Resources and Government Operations.
The Chair called Vote 1.
Mel Cappe made an opening statement and answered questions.
At 12:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
