Tuesday, April 21, 1998

The Standing Committee on Natural Resources and Government Operations met at 8:30 o’clock a.m., this day, in room 362-E, East Block, the Chair, Brent St. Denis, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Gerry Byrne, David Chatters, Yvon Godin, Ovid L. Jackson, Jerry Pickard, Carmen Provenzano, Ben Serré and Brent St. Denis.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Research Officer.

Appearing: The Hon. Ralph Goodale, Minister of Natural Resources.

Witnesses: From Natural Resources Canada: Jean C. McCloskey, Deputy Minister; David Bickerton, Director General, Financial Management Branch.

1998-99 Estimates, Report on Plans and Priorities: Votes 1, 5, 10, L15, 20, 25, 30 and 35, under NATURAL RESOURCES.

The Minister made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 10:00 o’clock a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
