The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 11:05 a.m., this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, John Harvard, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Garry Breitkreuz, Murray Calder, Denis Coderre, Odina Desrochers, John Harvard, Howard Hilstrom, Jake Hoeppner, Larry McCormick, Joe McGuire, Dick Proctor, Paul Steckle and Rose-Marie Ur.
Other Member present: Charlie Penson.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Researcher and Jean-Denis Fréchette, Economist.
Witnesses: From the Canadian Wheat Board: Lorne Hehn, Chief Commissioner; Larry Sawatzky, Industry Analyst, Market Analysis Group; Peter Watts, Market Analyst, Market Analyst Group.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee resumed the "Take Note" Hearings on the Upcoming World Trade Organization (WTO) Negotiations on agriculture -- (See Minutes of the committee, of October 22, 1998, Meeting No. 50).
Lorne Hehn, Larry Sawatzky and Peter Watts made opening statements and answered questions.
At 12:56 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
