Introduction of Private Members' Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Martin (Esquimalt -- Juan de Fuca), seconded by Mr. Chatters (Athabasca), Bill C-318, An Act to provide for the property traditionally used as the official residence of the Leader of the Opposition to be leased out when not being used, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

By unanimous consent, Mr. Milliken (Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons), seconded by Mr. Calder (Wellington -- Grey -- Dufferin -- Simcoe), moved, -- That six members of the Standing Committee on Transport be authorized to travel to Washington, D.C., from April 3 to 4, 1995, for the purpose of holding hearings in relation to the Committee's consideration of marine policy, and that the necessary staff do accompany the Committee.

The House resumed consideration of the motion of Mr. Kerpan (Moose Jaw -- Lake Centre), seconded by Mr. Hermanson (Kindersley -- Lloydminster), -- That, in the opinion of this House, the government should immediately pursue negotiations with the provinces and agri-food industry in order to re-assign jurisdictional responsibilities in agriculture and eliminate overlap and duplication.
