Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2) and the order adopted by the House of Commons on Thursday, June 23, 2022, the clerk of the committee presided over the election of a chair.

On motion of Stéphane Lauzon, it was agreed, — That Lloyd Longfield be elected Chair of the committee.

At 11:08 a.m., Lloyd Longfield took the Chair.

At 11:09 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(i) and the motions adopted by the committee on Thursday, September 22, 2022, Tuesday, February 14, 2023, and Tuesday, March 28, 2023, the committee resumed its study of support for the commercialization of intellectual property.

Alain Francq and Andrew Greer made statements and answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

Maxime Blanchette-Joncas gave notice of the following motion:

That the committee ask the Department of Industry to provide the missing information relative to the question asked by Maxime Blanchette-Joncas to the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry during the meeting of February 2, 2023, that it do so before Thursday, May 4, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., and that the missing information provided be as follows: i) the number of scholarships granted in English and in French by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), by university, for the last 20 years; ii) the amount of scholarships granted by the three research granting agencies, by university, for the last 20 years.
