Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, the committee resumed its study of food price inflation.

Sylvain Charlebois, Jodat Hussain and Karl Littler made statements and answered questions.

It was agreed, — That with the passing of the Canadian Cattle Association President, Reg Schellenberg, the Chair, in collaboration with the clerk and the analysts, prepare a letter of condolence, signed by the Chair on behalf of the committee and that this letter be sent to his family and to the Canadian Cattle Association.

At 4:31 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:37 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Pierre St-Laurent, Michael Graydon and Rebecca Lee made statements and answered questions.

It was agreed, — That Galen Weston, Chief Executive Officer of Loblaw Companies Limited, Michael Medline, Chief Executive Officer of Empire Company Limited and Eric R. La Flèche, Chief Executive Officer of Metro Inc., be invited to appear before the committee in view of its study on food price inflation.

At 5:35 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
