The Standing Committee on Official Languages met at 8:46 a.m. this day, in Room C-120, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, Michael D. Chong, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Robert Aubin, Hon. Mauril Bélanger, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Yvon Godin, Jacques Gourde, Dan Harris, Guy Lauzon, Costas Menegakis, Élaine Michaud, Bernard Trottier and John Weston.

 

Acting Members present: Joyce Bateman for Royal Galipeau.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lucie Lecomte, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Fédération des communautés francophones et acadienne du Canada: Marie-France Kenny, President; Suzanne Bossé, Director General. Fédération acadienne de la Nouvelle-Écosse: Ronald Robichaud, President; Jean Léger, Executive Director.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(f) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, September 29, 2011, the Committee resumed its study on the evaluation of the Roadmap: improving programs and service delivery.
 

Marie-France Kenny, Ronald Robichaud and Jean Léger made statements and, with Suzanne Bossé, answered questions.

 

At 10:28 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:31 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of the motion moved by the Hon. Mauril Bélanger on September 22, 2011, which read as follows:

That the Third Report entitled “Recruitment, Intake and Integration: What Future for Immigration to Official Language Minority Communities?” of the Standing Committee on Official Languages in the Third Session of the 40th Parliament be adopted again as a report of this Committee and that the Chair do present it to the House, and that, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request a comprehensive response from the government on the recommendations contained in the report.

 

Costas Menegakis moved, — That the Committee proceed to sit in camera .

 

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division: YEAS: Joyce Bateman, Jacques Gourde, Guy Lauzon, Costas Menegakis, Bernard Trottier, John Weston — 6; NAYS: Robert Aubin, Mauril Bélanger, Yvon Godin, Dan Harris, Élaine Michaud — 5.

 

At 10:34 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:35 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.
