The Legislative Committee on Bill C-32 met in a televised session at 11:02 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Gordon Brown, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Charlie Angus, Peter Braid, Gordon Brown, Serge Cardin, Dean Del Mastro, Ed Fast, Marc Garneau, Carole Lavallée, Hon. Dan McTeague and Pablo Rodriguez.

Other Members present: Brent Rathgeber.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Dara Lithwick, Analyst ; Maxime-Olivier Thibodeau, Analyst.

Witnesses: Council of Ministers of Education, Canada: Hon. Ramona Jennex, Chair and Minister of Education for Nova Scotia; Rosalind Penfound, Deputy Minister, Copyright Consortium; Wanda Noel, Legal Counsel, Copyright Consortium. Athabasca University: Troy Tait, Director, Government Relations and Operations, Office of the President; Rory McGreal, Associate Vice-President, Research. Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Friday, November 5, 2010, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-32, An Act to amend the Copyright Act.

The Minister made a statement and, with Rosalind Penfound and Wanda Noel, answered questions.

At 12:02 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:09 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Rory McGreal, Cathy Moore and Karen Coffey made statements and, with Troy Tait, answered questions.

At 12:58 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
