The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 8:50 a.m. this day, in Room 7-52, 131 Queen St., for the purpose of electing a Chair, pursuant to Standing Order 106(1).

 

Members of the Committee present: Alex Atamanenko, André Bellavance, France Bonsant, Hon. Wayne Easter, Hon. Mark Eyking, Randy Hoback, Larry Miller, Blake Richards, Bev Shipley, Brian Storseth and Francis Valeriote.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Analyst; Aïcha Coulibaly, Analyst. House of Commons: Carmen DePape, Procedural Clerk.

 
The Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of a Chair.
 

On motion of Brian Storseth, it was agreed, — That Larry Miller be elected Chair of the Committee.

 

By unanimous consent, the Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of the Vice-Chairs.

 

On motion of Randy Hoback, it was agreed, — That Mark Eyking be elected First Vice-Chair of the Committee.

 

On motion of France Bonsant, it was agreed, — That André Bellavance be elected Second Vice-Chair of the Committee.

 

Larry Miller took the Chair.

 
By unanimous consent, the Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That witnesses be invited to appear before the Committee at the meeting scheduled on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, on the subject of Bill C-474, An Act respecting the Seeds Regulations (analysis of potential harm); and that the Committee proceed with the consideration of a report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure during the final 15 minutes of the meeting.

 

At 9:15 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
