The Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs met in a televised session at 4:01 p.m. this day, in Room C-110, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, Gary Ralph Schellenberger, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Guy André, Kirsty Duncan, Kevin Lamoureux, Ben Lobb, Colin Mayes, Phil McColeman, Gary Ralph Schellenberger, Hon. Judy Sgro, Peter Stoffer, Brian Storseth and Robert Vincent.

 

Acting Members present: Steven Blaney for Greg Kerr.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Rodrigue Paré, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Veterans Affairs.

 

Witnesses: Department of Veterans Affairs: Keith Hillier, Assistant Deputy Minister, Service Delivery; Mary Chaput, Associate Deputy Minister; André Joannette, Director General, Finance Division.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee commenced consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (C) 2010-2011: Votes 1c and 5c under VETERANS AFFAIRS referred to the Committee on Tuesday, February 8, 2011.
 

The Chair called Vote 1c under VETERANS AFFAIRS.

 

Hon. Jean-Pierre Blackburn made a statement and, with Keith Hillier and Mary Chaput, answered questions.

 

At 5:05 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:07 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Vote 1c under VETERANS AFFAIRS carried.

 

The Chair called Vote 5c under VETERANS AFFAIRS.

 

Vote 5c under VETERANS AFFAIRS carried.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair report Votes 1c and 5c under VETERANS AFFAIRS to the House.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study of Bill C-55, An Act to amend the Canadian Forces Members and Veterans Re-establishment and Compensation Act and the Pension Act, the proposed budget in the amount of $4,400, be adopted.

 

At 5:21 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
