The Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities met in a televised session at 11:00 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Mervin C. Tweed, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Don H. Bell, Robert Carrier, Ed Fast, Martha Hall Findlay, Brian Jean, Mario Laframboise, Brian Masse, Bev Shipley, Mervin C. Tweed, Hon. Joseph Volpe, Jeff Watson and Paul Zed.

 

Acting Members present: Dennis Bevington for Brian Masse and Thierry St-Cyr for Robert Carrier.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: John Christopher, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities.

 

Witnesses: Department of Transport: Louis Ranger, Deputy Minister; André Morency, Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Management and Crown Corporation Governance; Merlin Preuss, Director General, Civil Aviation; Kristine Burr, Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy Group. Infrastructure Canada: David Cluff, Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Services Branch and Chief Financial Officer.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2008-2009: Votes 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70 and 75 under TRANSPORT referred to the Committee on Thursday, February 28, 2008.
 

The Hon. Lawrence Cannon made a statement and, with Louis Ranger, Merlin Preuss and Kristine Burr, answered questions.

 

At 1:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
