The Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities met in camera at 11:44 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Mervin C. Tweed, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Don H. Bell, Robert Carrier, Ed Fast, Brian Jean, Mario Laframboise, Brian Masse, Bev Shipley, Mervin C. Tweed and Hon. Joseph Volpe.

 

Acting Members present: Pierre Lemieux for Jeff Watson, Hon. Maria Minna for Martha Hall Findlay and Hon. Geoff Regan for Paul Zed.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: John Christopher, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on November 22, 2007, the Committee resumed its study on rail safety in Canada.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: Report of the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities on Rail Safety in Canada.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analyst be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

At 1:01 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
