The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met in a televised session at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Leon Benoit, Ken Boshcoff, Marc Godbout, Guy Lauzon, Hon. Diane Marleau, Pat Martin, Joe Preston, Francis Scarpaleggia, Paul Szabo and Louise Thibault.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Larry Bagnell for Hon. Diane Marleau, Hon. Larry Bagnell for Francis Scarpaleggia, Pierre Poilievre for Randy White and Christian Simard for Marcel Gagnon.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Philippe Le Goff, Analyst; Tara Gray, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Joe Preston moved, — That the Committee call on former president of the Royal Canadian Mint, David Dingwall to appear before the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates on Wednesday October 5th 2005, to discuss the activities of the President of the Royal Canadian Mint.

 

Louise Thibault moved, — That the motion be amended by adding after the words “ Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates” the following: “as soon as possible, to discuss the overall activities of the Office of the president of the Royal Canadian Mint and the relevant expenditures”.

 

The motion reads as follows:

That the committee calls on former president of the Royal Canadian Mint, David Dingwall to appear before the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates as soon as possible to discuss the activities of the Office of the President of the Royal Canadian Mint and the relevant expenditures.

The question was put on the motion, as amended, and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 10; NAYS: 0.

 

At 3:58 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
