The
Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in
Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Andy Scott, presiding.
Members of the Committee
present: Michel

Maloney, John McKay, Lynn Myers, Stephen Owen, Andy Scott, Kevin Sorenson.
Acting Member present: Brian Fitzpatrick for Myron
Thompson.
In attendance: From Committees and Legislative

analyst.
Witnesses: Roundtable I: From the
Association in Defence of the Wrongly Convicted: James Lockyer, Director;
Joyce Milgard, Director. Roundtable II: From the Canadian Police
Association: David Griffin, Executive Officer. From the Canadian
Association of Chiefs of Police: Vincent Westwick, Co-Chair; Michael Shard,
Superintendent.
Pursuant to its Order of
Reference of Monday, March 19, 2001, the Committee resumed consideration of
Bill C-15, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (Cruelty to Animals and Firearms)
and the Firearms Act (See Minutes of Proceedings, Tuesday, October 2, 2001,
Meeting No. 22).
The witnesses made
statements and answered questions.
At 4:43 p.m., the sitting
was suspended.
At 4:53 p.m., the sitting
resumed.
It was agreed, - That the
Committee extend its sitting hours to Wednesday evening, when needed.
At 6:26 p.m., the Committee
adjourned to the call of the Chair.
