Tuesday, May 11, 1999

The Sub-Committee on Tax Equity for Canadian Families with Dependent Children of the Standing Committee on Finance met at 1:09 p.m. this day, in Admiral's Ballroom Calgary Airport Hotel, Calgary, the Chair, Nick Discepola, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Serge Cardin, Nick Discepola, Michelle Dockrill, Paul Forseth, John Herron, Karen Redman and Paul Szabo.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Julie Cusson, Analyst.

Witnesses: From the NSWB, Barristers and Solicitors: Thomas A. Schuck. As Individual: Kerry S.B. Guy. From the Social Planning Council of Winnipeg: Sid Frankel, Board Member; Scott DeJaegher, Assistant Policy Analyst. From the National Foundation for Family Research and Education: Dr. Mark Genuis, Executive Director. As Individual: Beverley Smith.

Pursuant to the motion adopted by the Standing Committee on Finance, dated March 17, 1999, the Sub-Committee resumed its study on Tax Fairness for Canadian Families with Dependent Children

Thomas A. Schuck made an opening statement and answered questions.

Kerry Guy made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 2:45 p.m., Mr. Szabo took the Chair.

At 2:55 p.m., the Chair took the Chair.

Sid Frankel and Scott DeJaegher from the Social Planning Council of Winnipeg made opening statements and answered questions.

Mark Genuis from the National Foundation for Family Research and Education made an opening statement and answered questions.

Beverley Smith made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 4:55 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
