MINUTES OF PROCEEDING
(Meeting No. 8)

Thursday, November 6, 1997

The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 8:55 o’clock a.m., this day, in room 701, La Promenade, the Chair, George Baker, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: George Baker, Yvan Bernier, John Duncan, Charles Hubbard, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, M. Sophia Leung, Garry Lunn, Bill Matthews, Carmen Provenzano, Peter Stoffer.

Other Member present: Bob Kilger.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament
: Claude Emery and Alan Nixon, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Department of Fisheries and Oceans:Dr. William Doubleday,
Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Science Directorate; Jacque Robichaud,
Director General, Resource Management Directorate.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of the Science Branch.

Dr. Doubleday made an opening statement and answered questions.

On motion of Gary Lunn it was agreed, - That, the Committee invite the Minister to appear on Tuesday, November 18th on his Estimates.

On motion of John Duncan, it was agreed, - That, Dr. Doubleday be invited to appear after the Committee has heard from the scientists who wish to appear.

At 10:50 o’clock a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
