Background
Mr. Corbett (Fundy-Royal) sought leave to move the adjournment of the House under the provisions of Standing Order 29 to discuss "the disastrous situation which has developed in Atlantic Canada during the past week as a result of many major forest fires". He reminded the House of the importance of the forestry sector to Canada and in particular to New Brunswick and Newfoundland, provinces heavily dependent on that industry to provide employment and economic well-being.
