Background
Mr. Henderson (Egmont) and Mr. Skelly (Comox—Powell River) each sought leave to move the adjournment of the House under the provisions of Standing Order 31 to discuss the decision of the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans (Mr. Fraser) to permit the sale of tainted tuna. The Speaker dealt with the applications immediately.

The matter has already received substantial airing in Question Period. In response to points of order raised by Mr. Deans (Hamilton Mountain) and Mr. Gray (Windsor West), the Speaker reiterated that he found no prima facie case of a genuine emergency.
