Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, the committee resumed its study of closed work permits and temporary foreign workers.

Fernando Borja Torres, Denise Gagnon and Mark Chambers made statements and, with Michel Pilon, answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

Alexis Brunelle-Duceppe gave notice of the following motion:

That the committee invite the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship and the Minister of Public Safety, Democratic Institutions and Intergovernmental Affairs to appear as soon as possible, together for two hours, to answer the committee’s questions concerning migrant trafficking and smuggling and the measures the government intends to implement to put an end to these illegal activities that exploit vulnerable people and compromise their safety.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Friday, October 7, 2022, the committee resumed its study of the government's response to the final report of the Special Committee on Afghanistan.

At 5:08 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:18 p.m., the sitting resumed.

At 5:21 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:23 p.m., the sitting resumed.

At 5:31 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
