Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(f) and the motion adopted by the committee on Friday, April 21, 2023, the committee resumed its study of increased Francophone immigration to Canada.

Charles Castonguay and Roger Pichette made statements and answered questions.

At 5:31 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:35 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The Minister made a statement and, with Christiane Fox answered questions.

Mario Beaulieu gave notice of the following motion:

That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(3), and taking into account the Radio-Canada reports last Tuesday, which revealed new violations of the Official Languages Act within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the committee hear from the RCMP Commissioner, Mike Duheme, no later than October 18 to discuss the RCMP’s plan to comply with the Official Languages Act and respect the French language.

The committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analyst for a draft report.

At 6:37 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
