Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(f) and the motion adopted by the committee on Friday, April 21, 2023, the committee commenced its study of increased Francophone immigration to Canada.

At 4:10 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:14 p.m., the sitting resumed.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of increased Francophone immigration to Canada, the committee reinvite officials from the Department of Canadian Heritage and the Department of Citizenship and Immigration to appear on Friday, May 12, 2023.

Alain Desruisseaux and Julie Boyer made statements and, with Olivier Jacques, answered questions.

At 4:38 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the committee continue to sit.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

At 5:07 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:23 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

ORDERED, — That the clerk of the committee, in consultation with the Chair, prepare a draft budget respecting the committee's proposed travel to Africa, in relation to its study of increased Francophone immigration to Canada, for consideration by the committee on Tuesday, May 16, 2023.

At 5:57 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
