House of Commons Committee Invites the Public to Submit Written Briefs for Its Review of Bill C-22

Ottawa, October 28, 2022 -

The House of Commons Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities is undertaking a study of Bill C-22, An Act to reduce poverty and to support the financial security of persons with disabilities by establishing the Canada disability benefit and making a consequential amendment to the Income Tax Act.

Bill C-22, or the Canada Disability Benefit Act, was introduced in the House of Commons on 2 June 2022. The bill would establish the Canada Disability Benefit with the purpose of reducing poverty and supporting the financial security of working-age persons with disabilities. Over the course of its study, the Committee will hear from departmental officials, advocacy organizations, and others regarding Bill C-22 and the proposed benefit.

The Committee invites members of the public to submit written briefs no longer than 5 pages (approximately 2,500 words) for consideration in the study. For more information on how to prepare a submission, please consult the Guide for Submitting Briefs to House of Commons Committees.

The deadline for the Committee to receive written briefs from the public is Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. (ET). Briefs may be submitted electronically to the Committee Clerk at HUMA@parl.gc.ca or submitted online through the Committee’s study page of its website.
