Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the clerk of the committee presided over the election of a vice-chair.

On motion of Mike Lake, it was agreed, — That Michael Barrett be elected First Vice-Chair of the committee.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, the committee resumed its study of the emergency situation facing Canadians in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Andrew Hayes and Brigitte Diogo made statements and, with Cindy Evans and Christopher Allison, answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

Adam van Koeverden gave notice of the following motion:

That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee invites the Minister of Health, the Minister of Mental Health and Addictions and Associate Minister of Health, as well as officials, to appear for two hours regarding the 2021-2022 Supplementary Estimates (C), the 2022-2023 Main Estimates, and the 2022-2023 Departmental Plans for the Department of Health, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, and the Public Health Agency of Canada and that the meeting take place on Monday, March 21, 2022.
