Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee commenced its study of testimony related to the committee's core mandate.

Cait Alexander made a statement.

Motion

Anita Vandenbeld moved, — That the committee proceed to the consideration of the motion moved by Emmanuella Lambropoulos on Friday, May 13, 2022.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:

YEAS: Jenica Atwin, Fayçal El-Khoury, Leah Gazan, Marc G. Serré, Sonia Sidhu, Anita Vandenbeld — 6;

NAYS: Michelle Ferreri, Tracy Gray, Andréanne Larouche, Anna Roberts — 4.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

The committee resumed consideration of the motion of Emmanuella Lambropoulos moved on Friday, May 13, 2022, which read as follows:

That the Standing Committee on the Status of Women report to the House that (a) access and availability to reproduction health services no matter where one lives in Canada, including safe and legal abortion, is a Charter right, and is ensured under the Canada Health Act, and (b) the decision to have an abortion made by women, transgender, and non-binary individuals for any reason, is their freedom of choice and theirs alone.

Debate arose thereon.

A point of order was raised regarding which member should have the floor.

RULING BY THE CHAIR

The Chair ruled that the floor be given to Michelle Ferreri.

Whereupon, Jenica Atwin appealed the decision of the Chair.

The question: "Shall the decision of the Chair be sustained?" was put and the decision was overturned on the following recorded division:
